若你向銀行申請貸款,你就是向銀行借錢。若你把錢放進銀行戶口,那就是存款,雖然性質上好比借錢給銀行,但日常用語不會這般說,以免混淆。可見借可以是指借用或借予,兩者是逆向的。
昨日教會開會,其中一項就一張與政府部門訂定的借用合約討論當中的細節。有一個名詞令我異常費解:「借存者」。英文本的用字是Lender,直譯應是借予者。但「借存者」所指究竟是借予的一方還是借用的一方呢?我便搞不明白了。我就這名詞詢問有法律權威背景的主席,得到的答案好像是此乃政府有關部門在此類合約上慣常的用語。我當時沒話可說。
我查字典,找不到此名詞。上網搜尋,也看不到此名詞被引用過。究竟這是否真乃政府慣常的用詞呢?還是學了內地近年流行的怪雞中文呢?或許我只能為香港的中文水平致哀!
Not only is the term you mentioned unclear and perhaps confusing…I don’t understand why they called the agreement a loan agreement in the first place…technically, it should be a licence agreement…the draft has typos everywhere and it could do with a few more clauses here and there…but remember the “Chairman” regretted that he invited comments from all of us…all I can say is if you don’t want comments than don’t table it at a meeting :'(
so does commenting mean disapproval? what kind of thought is it?
